Writing Contest: A Story About A Relaxing Activity Can Win You $5,000

If you missed the writing contest about a hobby I talked about in my previous post with a grand prize of $15,000 don’t worry there’s another writing contest on Vocal Media with a first place prize of $5,000.

Vocal Media is totally legitimate. I’ve already received a $5 bonus when this story was featured Vocal.

You can read a complete guide to publishing stories on Vocal here.

A few things you need to know before entering the challenge:

1. It’s only open to Vocal+ members meaning you need to pay a monthly subscription fee to Vocal to become a paying member to enter the contest. However, they’re running a promotion right now and it only costs $1 to subscribe for the first month. Remember to cancel your subscription after the first month or else it will auto-renew at $9.99 per month going forward.

2. The story has to be between 600 and 5000 words. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a word count option in the Vocal story editor so you’ll need to find a resource to make sure you’re within the word count range.

3. The story just needs to talk about any “creative project or activity you love doing that offers you inner peace“.

4. This challenge ends on July 30th so you have plenty of time to write your story – 40 days in fact.

5. In order to get paid you need to create a Stripe account ( similar to Paypal ). Stripe is not available in all countries so check before you decide to sign up for Vocal.

If you already have a story or love writing I encourage you to take this part in this challenge. The worst thing that’ll happen is you lose $1 for subscribing to Vocal and some time to write your story.

If you’ve made it to the end of this article I would love it if you read my story submission from the last writing contest on how I got started sewing.

Thanks for reading and happy “mad” story writing!
